I am a Christian...
Hi my name is Marci, and I am a Christian.
Kind of reminds me of those AA meetings you see on t.v. Go to your weekly meetings, talk about your ups and downs, then you leave and work at not taking another drink. If you need help before your next weekly meeting, you call your sponsor, or go to another meeting.
By the way, I am not an alcoholic nor have I ever been to an AA meeting as stated above this is what I have seen on t.v., I am not in anyway diminishing or making light of someone who has a drinking problem.
But this is what I feel like its what we as Christians have been reduced too.
Church is your meeting place, worship service is your big meeting before you break off into groups for Sunday school. We go out into the world and try to spread God's word, and get bashed for our efforts, so we move to the side lines and quietly watch what is going on it our world around us. We go to our "meetings" complain about what is happening to us. Yet we don't do anything about it.
I do feel like as Christians we have a problem and we aren't doing anything to stop it.
Jesus did say to turn the other cheek (Matthew 5:39). He did not however say lie down and let them walk all over you, Jesus also said in Mark 8:38 - For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.
One of my favorite quotes is by John Wesley, "What one generation tolerates, the next will embrace."
We have got to stop tolerating and start reacting, and start sharing God's word with the world, loudly and boldly.
Instead of saying Hi my name is Marci, and I am a Christian. I need, (we need), to be saying I AM A CHRISTIAN, AND I AM OFFENDED, AND YOU NEED TO HEAR GOD'S WORD!
I am not saying we need to go shouting and screaming at everyone. We need to go out with love in our hearts, but let the world know we are not, under any circumstances, going to stand for them to walk all over our religious freedoms. We are not going to let them tell us what is right and wrong. God gave us an instruction manual, it's called the Holy Bible and it has outlasted generations of people. This is the rule book we should be following. This is what we as Christians look to when we have an issue.
Take the homosexual issue for instance, and I know this is a hot topic.
I don't agree with homosexual marriages, I don't agree with homosexual's adopting children. The Bible clearly states marriage is a holy bond between a man and a woman. (Matthew 19:4-6; Mark 10:6-9) not 2 people of the same sex.
Is homosexuality a sin? Yes, it is. Is a homosexual's sin any bigger than my sin? No, it is not. God treats ALL sin the same. We must not condone this behavior, but we also must not judge their behavior that is God's job and His alone. We are to love one another.
Everyone in this world has the same rights as everyone else. They just need to be shown it through God's word. Now country's may not give their citizens the same rights, but those are earthly laws not heavenly laws.
We need to bring our country back to what it was founded on, which is God's love, religious freedom to practice the Bible as we believe. We must repent and ask forgiveness from God. We must spend time daily in God's word with God. We must pray without ceasing. We must show love to our neighbor as God has instructed us to do.
We need to break free of our sin and let God reign over us, our families, our friends, our country.
Love God,
Love your neighbor,
Love yourself.
I AM A CHRISTIAN, and I send love to all.
